KJHPAT
Every parent and guardian is welcome to join the Kathryn Jones Harrison Parents and Teachers!
Kathryn Jones Harrison Parents and Teachers (KJHPAT) is our school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). KJHPAT is a group of parents and families, teachers and staff, and friends of Kathryn Jones Harrison dedicated to the support of our school. Activities include the following:
- provide financial support for educational enhancements that benefit all our students, including school supplies and discretionary spending for teachers
- build community by organizing a variety of events and activities
- promote clear communication between the school and the home
- recruit volunteers to assist in school and JPAT activities
Community Building Activities
KJHPAT traditionally organizes a variety of community building activities throughout the year. Listed below are some examples. If you have an idea of a community-building activity that you would like to help organize, please contact Sally Moore. We our looking to bring back more activities for the school community this year and need plenty of help to make them happen. Working together with our community families makes for a wonderful experience for everyone at Kathryn Jones Harrison.
| First Day of School Welcome | Adults are invited to meet in front of the school for coffee and snacks after the children have gone into the building. |
| Fall Potluck | School families come together for a potluck picnic supper during the first weeks of school. This event also kicks off the Direct Donation Drive. |
| Family STEM Night | All school family members are welcome to come to this community event, where the focus is showing that STEM is fun! |
| Dance of the Decades | The sock hop is a fun night full of music, dancing, and having fun with friends. |
| Carnival | Be prepared for lots of carnival games, food, a book walk, cake walk, bouncy houses and slides, and prizes! This is a low-cost event that is fun for the whole family. |
| Fall and Spring Book Fair | The spring book fair is a buy-one-get-one-free book fair which we do to benefit our families, as opposed to a fundraiser like the book fair we host in the fall. |
| Site Beautification | KJHPAT volunteers work year-round to help keep school grounds looking healthy and beautiful. |
