School Information

We have been educating young people in Corvallis since 1960. Our school currently serves 350 students with 62 staff.

Our school provides a solid educational foundation for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our students regularly achieve at high levels on the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) with more than 85% of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders either meeting or achieving the standard on state reading and math tests. Our school community features a strong music program that includes the Jaguar Choir and Jag Band. Students regularly participate in wellness activities including regular physical education and planting and harvesting in our Kathryn Jones Harrison Garden.

Our school community is unique in the Corvallis School District because we are the proud home to the elementary Life Skills program. Life Skills classrooms are designed for students with a variety of developmental disabilities who need a highly structured environment. Instruction is focused on academics at the student’s level and a curriculum that prepares students for independent living including personal safety. Life Skills students are a part of general education classrooms as well as the Life Skills classrooms. We all learn and play together.

Elton Kikuta, Principal

I started my career at Kathryn Jones Harrison (then known as Jefferson Elementary) in 1984 when I did my student teaching in the 1st grade.  I was hired the next year as a kindergarten teacher and have been here ever since.  I have taught kindergarten, first grade and third grade.   I received my B.A. in Elementary Education from Oregon State University with a concentration in math in 1985.  Soon after I received my Masters in Education from Oregon State University.
I’ve always valued the students, the staff and the community.  Kathryn Harrison Jones is my second home.
